Connect your Gmail to Veridox Email
Create a Google app password and connect Gmail in about 2 minutes.
For: Everyone · Category: Email & mailbox safety
Gmail does not let other apps sign in with your normal Google password. Instead, Google gives you a special 16-letter "app password" for Veridox. You need 2-Step Verification turned on first. The whole thing takes about 2 minutes.
Steps
- Open Connect mailbox - In Veridox, open Email and choose "Connect mailbox". Pick "Gmail / Google Workspace" (or just type your gmail.com address) and the server settings are filled in for you.
- Turn on 2-Step Verification - Open myaccount.google.com/signinoptions/two-step-verification and turn on 2-Step Verification. If it is already on, go to the next step.
- Create an app password - Open myaccount.google.com/apppasswords, type the name Veridox and click Create. Sign in again if Google asks.
- Copy the password - Google shows a 16-letter password. Copy it. Spaces do not matter.
- Paste it and connect - Back in Veridox, paste it into the Password box and click Connect. Use your normal Gmail address as the login.
Tips
- Your normal Gmail password will not work here.
- Work accounts (Google Workspace): if you cannot see App passwords, your company's Google admin has turned them off; ask them.
- App passwords are also hidden if your account signs in only with security keys, or uses Google Advanced Protection.
- You do not need to turn on IMAP in Gmail settings: Google keeps IMAP on for every account.
- Veridox fills in the servers for you: imap.gmail.com (port 993, SSL) for incoming mail and smtp.gmail.com (port 465, SSL) for sending.
- You can remove access any time at myaccount.google.com/apppasswords. Changing your Google password also removes every app password.
