Edit Google Docs from Veridox

Open, edit and minimise Google Docs, Sheets and Slides, and ask for edit access.

For: Everyone · Category: Documents & notices

Open and edit company Google Docs, Sheets and Slides from Veridox. In the Veridox web app they open right inside Veridox, so you can keep working without switching apps. You need your own Google account connected (see "Connect your own Google account").

Steps

  1. Open the document - In Docs, choose Open on a Google document. In the Veridox web app it opens inside Veridox.
  2. Sign in to Google if asked - Google opens documents only for people signed in with Google. If Veridox asks, choose "Sign in with Google". Google's own page opens in your browser, outside Veridox, and then brings you straight back to the document.
  3. Minimise to keep working - Choose Minimise (or press Escape). The document waits in the bar at the bottom while you use the rest of Veridox. Open it again from that bar. You can keep up to 4 documents open.
  4. Ask for edit access - If you can only view a document, choose "Ask for edit access", add a short message if you like (optional) and choose "Send request". The request goes to the document's owner, the owners and admins, or HR. You get a notice when they decide.
  5. Approve or decline a request - Approvers see "1 edit request(s)" on the document card. Choose the card to open the document details, then choose Approve or Decline under "Edit access requests".
  6. Wait a few minutes after approval - Google can take a few minutes to apply new edit access. Open the document again after a short while and you can edit it.

Tips

  • Use Veridox's "Ask for edit access". Google's own "Request edit access" button does not reach anyone.
  • Want a copy in Veridox too? Choose "Save a copy to Veridox". It keeps a Word, Excel or PowerPoint copy (up to 10 MB), and earlier copies stay under Earlier versions.
  • If Google signed you in with a different account, Veridox tells you which address the document opens with. Switch to that account and try again.
  • Some browsers (often Safari and Firefox) block Google inside other websites. Choose "Open in Google Docs" to open it in a new tab instead.
  • Without a connected Google account you can still use Preview to read a document.
